Product Information

The Milo System is a millimeter-scale positioning system, consisting of a group of interrogators, often in the form of a base station, and paired battery-operated transponders. The base station measures the distance to each transponder at rates that support real-time control. With the principles of multilateration, those distances are used to determine the position of each transponder, which are used to calculate the precise position and pose of various robotic and non-robotic assets in order to provide more informed navigation and collaboration information.

In most embodiments, the Milo system consists of a 1m x 1m base station unit and several 50mm x 50mm transponders, but also has the capability of being physically broken down into separate components for different use cases. Depending on the needs of a particular application, the Milo base station could be disassembled, and the interrogators (antennas) could be repositioned so that they can be integrated into a mobile robot, or other components of the system or process. The Milo SDK can be used to simplify the set-up and streaming of positions, poses, vectors, transformations and other system settings, allowing for easy initial integration and future modification.

Company Description

Founded in 2015 by Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor David Mindell, Humatics drives the next generation of system accuracy and precision to improve efficiency and revenue.

Humatics (Huma[n] + [Robo]tics) has developed a radio-frequency based technology built for millimeter scale with a mission to drive the seamless collaboration between humans, machines, robots, and infrastructure. Our advanced technology produces near real-time millimeter-scale 3D positional data to improve existing processes to synchronize and improve the dynamic interaction between those disparate assets.

We operate globally across numerous industries, including manufacturing, warehouse material handling, distribution centers, medical and many others.
